Frequently asked questions

What counts as "found"?

We count your store as "found" when an AI assistant mentions your brand name, your domain, or links to your store in its response to a buyer-style question about products you sell. A generic mention of your category (e.g. "look at specialty coffee roasters") doesn't count — we're measuring whether AI actually sends shoppers to your URL.

Does this cost me anything?

No. The diagnostic is free and has no time limit. We cover the API costs because showing merchants what AI says about their store is the best way we've found to explain what SEOMelon does. You are not signing up for anything and there is no credit card required.

Does this affect my SEO?

No. We only read public product pages — the same thing Google and any other crawler does every day. We don't post anything, we don't submit forms, and we don't touch your analytics. Running the diagnostic has zero impact on your rankings.

Will you store my product data?

We store the URLs we checked, the AI responses we received, and your score so you can come back to your results page later. We do not resell product data and we do not share it with third parties. You can email hello@seomelon.com to have your diagnostic deleted at any time.

How is this different from Google Search Console?

Search Console tells you what Google shows people when they search Google. This diagnostic tells you what a ChatGPT-class LLM says when people ask it for product recommendations. That's a growing share of shopping traffic — roughly 4.87% of retail visits according to Amsive's 2025 study, and up to 18% on certain product categories per Search Engine Land, growing roughly 3x year over year. Traditional search tools don't measure it at all.
