1. Introduction

SEO Melon ("we", "our", "the app") is a Shopify application that helps merchants optimize their product SEO. This policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

2. Data We Collect

When you install SEO Melon, we access the following from your Shopify store:

• Product data: titles, descriptions, meta titles, meta descriptions, image URLs, and alt texts
• Store information: shop domain name and email address
• Billing status: subscription plan and charge status

We do not collect personal data from your customers.

3. How We Use Your Data

• SEO analysis: Product data is analyzed to generate SEO scores and identify issues
• AI processing: Product titles, descriptions, and metadata are sent to Azure OpenAI to generate optimized SEO suggestions. This data is processed in real-time and is not stored by the AI provider beyond the duration of the request.
• Applying changes: When you approve suggestions, we update your Shopify product metadata via the Shopify Admin API

4. Data Storage

• Product SEO data (scores, suggestions, issues) is stored in our database on secure servers
• Data is associated with your Shopify store domain and is isolated from other merchants
• We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (TLS/SSL)

5. Data Retention

• Your data is retained for as long as the app is installed on your store
• When you uninstall the app, all associated data is permanently deleted within 30 days
• You may request immediate deletion by contacting us

6. Third-Party Services

• Shopify: We interact with Shopify's APIs to read and update your product data. Shopify's privacy policy applies to data stored on their platform.
• Azure OpenAI: Product metadata is sent to Microsoft Azure OpenAI for AI processing. Microsoft's data processing terms apply. Data is not used to train AI models.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties except as described in Section 6. We may disclose data if required by law.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about your store
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Uninstall the app at any time to stop data collection

9. GDPR Compliance

For merchants in the European Economic Area, we process data as a data processor on behalf of the merchant (data controller). We comply with GDPR requirements including data minimization, purpose limitation, and the right to erasure.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
